​①Kippōji Temple /  Zen meditation

Kippōji Temple is a historic temple located in Eiheiji Town, Fukui Prefecture. It is known as the place where Dōgen Zenji, the founder of the Sōtō school of Zen Buddhism, practiced before establishing the renowned Eiheiji Temple. Visiting Kippōji offers a unique opportunity to connect with Zen history and culture at a site deeply associated with Dōgen Zenji.

​②Iwaya Kannon

Iwaya Kannon is a historic temple located in Iwaya, Kitago Town, Katsuyama City, Fukui Prefecture. Its origins date back to the Nara period when the revered Buddhist monk Taichō Daishi established it as Reiganji Temple.One of its most famous features is the "Iwaya Great Cedar", which is over 500 years old and has a trunk circumference of 17 meters, making it the thickest cedar tree in the prefecture. It has been designated as a cultural property of the city.Exploring these ancient trees and historical structures allows visitors to experience the harmony of deep history and nature.

​③Heisenji Hakusan Shrine

Heisenji Hakusan Shrine is a historic shrine located in Katsuyama City, Fukui Prefecture, and is one of the most important centers of Hakusan worship. It was founded in 717 during the Nara period by Taichō Daishi, the founder of Shugendō, a Japanese mountain ascetic tradition. The shrine flourished greatly from the Heian period through the Sengoku period.One of its most distinctive features is the path covered with lush green moss, which gives the shrine a mystical atmosphere. Because of this breathtaking scenery, the shrine is sometimes referred to as "Kokedera" (the Moss Temple). The moss-covered stone paths, especially after a rainfall, create an enchanting and otherworldly ambiance.
